Experiencing energy fields

This article on experiencing energy fields first appeared in the November 2005 issue of The Good Life, which had the theme of energy.

For a better understanding of how we are all surrounded by fields of energy, please read the article about auras.

Apart from sensing and seeing auras, or aura photography, this article discusses how we can experience energy fields using various. The first part of this article looks at experiencing energy with the pendulum.

Click here to read Part II about how to experience energy fields using L-rods.

Experiencing energy

I used to think that only people special abilities can see, feel or experience energy. I used to gasp in awe when I hear about someone who can see auras.

Not anymore. Because now I can do (a bit of) it as well. All of us can. Below are some ways to demonstrate and experience energy fields. Have fun.

The Pendulum

A Pendulum may be a small metallic dome with a pointed tip, or a piece of crystal, attached to a chain.

But you can use any object – a ring tied to string, a gold chain with a pendant…a nail clipper works just as well.

Have two people one male, one female to volunteer for this demonstration.

Hold the pendulum over the head of the man. It will soon start to rotate. Next, hold it over the head of the woman. It will rotate in the opposite direction.

While the pendulum is still turning, have the two of them hold hands. It will slow, and stop!

Why? The macrobiotic explanation is that men have stronger yang or heaven energy; women have stronger yin or earth energy. The two forms of energy spin in different directions.

Find out for yourself which is which. When they hold hands, their energies harmonise. That is why the pendulum stops.

Next, ask one of them to hold his or her palms facing upwards. Hold the pendulum over one palm, then the other.

Again, the pendulum will spin in different directions.

Now hold the pendulum over the head and ask the person to place both palms together, as if in prayer.

Again, the pendulum stops. The energies of the right and left hands harmonise. So we feel a sense of harmony when we pray with our hands together, not with arms folded or hanging loose.

There are lots more things you can do with the pendulum…

Ask the person to think various thoughts – peaceful, pleasurable, chaotic or angry thoughts – and see how the pendulum responds.

Energy fields and chakras

Or, have the person lie down, then hold the pendulum over the charkas or energy centres – third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, hara and sex.

At each charka, ask the person to think social thoughts like organizing parties, or do mental calculations, strategic planning etc. This will help you discover which charka is associated with which mental functions.

You can, however, influence the direction of the pendulum. So use it with an open mind. Don’t have pre-conceived ideas about how it should turn.

Energy fields – Good or bad?

Some people turn to the pendulum for advice about what is good or bad for them.

To do this, begin by asking the pendulum which direction is good, which is bad. Then hold the pendulum over different foods or objects and see what happens.

Do this with your eyes closed. Have someone place the objects beneath the pendulum, so that you will not be influenced by what you think is good or bad.

I tried this once with white rice, organic brown rice, and rice cakes that had turned rancid. The results were accurate.

I don’t take the pendulum too seriously though. I think it’s better to make decision on my own.

Energy fields – Strange but true

But a friend who does take it seriously has this “strange but true” story tell...

Some years back, he was acting as a financial consultant for hotel that was not doing too well.

One day, he laid out a map of the hotel, and moved a pendulum over it. He found a site that suggested something amiss, at secluded corner in the basement. When he checked out the site, he found a neglected Chinese shrine there.

He called in a Taoist priest to pray, perform some rituals and basically “clean up” the site. After that, business at the hotel improved!
